Former Carolina Panther and Clemson Tiger football standout Brentson Buckner has joined the award-winning, reading incentive program as a celebrity and motivational participant.

“Brentson is a fabulous addition to our team,” said Betsy Ross, founder and president of Limos For Learning™. “He had an extraordinary football career, loves working with children and is a dedicated member of the community. Brenston is a winner is every aspect of life and we are proud that our young students will associate that winning tradition trait with him.”

Limos For Learning™ consists of public-private partnerships and utilizes celebrities as a means to motivate and increase the importance of reading proficiency, literacy and education awareness among elementary school children.
Buckner is the latest in a growing list of local and national celebrities to participate with the organization, joining rock band Hootie and The Blowfish and most recently, award-winning journalist and Access Hollywood co-anchor Nancy O’Dell.  “Children equate limousines to celebrities,” Ross said. “They perceive the person inside the limousine to be successful. Limos for Learning™ allows children to experience celebrity status and that level of recognition for their reading accomplishments.”
“Helping students understand the importance and value of reading is important to me,” said Buckner. “I am thrilled to join Limos For Learning™ in their endeavor to help improve the education and lives of children.”
A former All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection at Clemson, Buckner enjoyed a distinguished 12-year football career with four different NFL teams, including the Carolina Panthers. He played in two Super Bowls and recorded 31 career sacks during his career.
While at Clemson, he earned his degree in English and is a budding television analyst, already working on several NFL and collegiate broadcasts. He is also involved with other charitable organizations, including his own reading program in Charlotte.
